About Our Founder
Grace E. Hill is a community leader, advocate and change agent, who is devoted to whole-hearted service to those who need it most. Passionate about empowering future generations, she is known for her commitment to leading with empathy, compassion, integrity, creativity, and authenticity.
An Executive Assistant for high profile, impactful executives by profession, Hill lends her over 15 years of administrative expertise to support the development of community resources and grassroots activism.
“Proud to be ME” was born from her desire to see children and youth walk confidently through life, experiencing self-acceptance in a world that is constantly telling them to be something other than who they are.
The “Proud to Be ME” Mission & Vision
“Proud to Be ME” exists to remind and empower Black & Brown children to fully embrace their heritage and celebrate their unique identity and contributions to the world.
Through positive and affirming apparel, culturally representative dolls, and literary projects, “Proud to Be ME” will create pathways to life-directing conversations between children and youth with their parents, educators, mentors, and role models.
Our proud peacock logo reflects the confident posture and rich history of the Black community we want every child to embrace without apology.
